RE: Brands to stay away from?

We've looked at some Tiffens and some Foretravels. The Foretravels are getting a little pricey but a possibility. These are the "levels" of coach we are considering.

RE: Brands to stay away from?

The reason I wanted to stay in the 350 HP range is for the mileage. Anything over 400 HP and the mileage is going to drop raidly, or so I understand. I don't want this to turn into "Brand wars" and that is why I asked for specific problems people had with the coaches. I don't want to know about problems with dealers or warranty work. Mainly, I'm interested in Engine/chassis/frame or major leaks that weren't repairable, delamination problems, ect. I know most coaches have small things go wrong and I'm not interested in hearing about pumps going out or bad refrigerators, ect. I am interested in serious problems that cost a lot of money to repair that seem to re-occur in a given brand/model. I want facts about problems, I'm not asking about how a person likes their unit. Like I said in my pervious post, we love our Alfa 5'ver and have had one major problem( the floor bubbled up on it) and a few small problems. Alfa didn't step up to the plate and in fact encouraged me to sue their extended warranty company!! I didn't care for that attitude, so Alfa is of of my list. However, if anyone asked me about the quality of the unit itself, I would say I was very satisfied with it.

Brands to stay away from?

The wife and I are srtongly considering moving up() to a diesel pusher. We've been pulling a 5'ver since '93 and I've pulled trailers of some sort or another since '73. I would like to know brands or models to not even consider because of serious problems in the past. We will be buying a late model, low mileage used unit. Looking for something that listed in the low 200's to low 300's when new in the 350 HP range. We won't be dealing with the factory warranty, so that's not an issue, like it was when we bought the Alfa 5'ver in 2003. We love the 5'ver but had serious warranty problems over little things with Alfa and their extended warranty company, so Alfa motorhomes are out of consideration. We hope that this will be our last purchase and plan on traveling extensively during our retirement. I would like to know what the serious problems were and costs to repair them. If you had a unit that had just one small problem after another, I'd like to know about that also.

RE: Branson, Mo.

I would second The Shepard of the Hills play. I've seen it every time I've gone to Branson and enjoyed it. Unless it's changed a lot since I've been there last(and that's a possiblity since The last time was 1994. We did stop at Lambert's to eat last year though and had to wait two hours to get in!! This was at 2:00 in the afternoon on a weekday. The food is good, but I'll won't stop there again. No food is good enough to wait 2 hours in line for.

RE: Who has had an unusual European car?

I had a '74 Fiat X/19(Bertone)around the early 80's. It was a blast! Two seater mid-engine. It was hard to get parts for though. I've thought about trying to get another one, but I'd want one with factory air-conditioning this time though and they're kind of hard to find.
